Paris, November 06, 2013 (PPI-OT): Minister of State for Education, Trainings and Standards in Higher Education, Baligh Ur Rehman called on his Chinese counterpart Mr. Yuan Guiren here this morning. They discussed matters pertaining to enhance co-operation in the fields of technical, vocational and ICT education.
Chinese side offered every possible assistance to Pakistan in these areas apart from the training of teachers. Mr. Yuan Guiren informed Mr. Baligh Ur Rehman that China has increased the number scholarships for Pakistani students by 200. Mr. Baligh Ur rehman, invited his counterpart to visit Pakistan.
The invitation was accepted. The Minster raised the issue of special concession of fee for Pakistani students aspiring to study in China. He also proposed to his counterpart that Chinese Ministry of Education could adopt a vocational and technical institute in Pakistan to make it a model institute for others to follow. Chinese Minister welcomed the proposal. The ambassador of Pakistan to France Mr. Ghalib Iqbal was also present during the meeting.
In his meeting with Education Minister of Nigeria, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, Mr. Baligh Ur Rehman highlighted the importance of need for establishing contact between two countries at the highest level in order to benefit mutually for each other’s experiences. Both the ministers felt that Pakistan and Nigeria have similar problems, challenges and issues in education.
Therefore, they need to co-operate to share the experiences. Both the ministers agreed that the number of Nigerian students coming to Pakistan to study medicine and engineering etc. should be increased. Both the ministers agreed to learn from each other the use of Satellite Communication Systems to educate children in far flung areas.
Later in the evening, the Minister had a meeting with Mr. PaavoArhinmaki, Minister of Finland for Culture and Sports. He explained to the minister in detail the system of education in Finland. Mr. Baligh Ur Rehman said that Pakistan will like to benefit from Finland their technique of producing high quality teachers known world over. Mr. Arhinmaki expressed the willingness of his Govt. to co-operate and assist Pakistan in this area. He also offered to provide support services for education of special children.
