Islamabad, July 24, 2012 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Postal Services Sardar Al Haj Mohammad Umar Gorgaij met delegation from Indian Postal Services Board led by Federal Secretary Ms. Manjula Prasher.
Minister in his opening remarks thanked the Indian Secretary to visit Pakistan. It will strengthen mutual relationship between the two neighbours, he added. Pakistan Post is a very old department with a rich history of achievements in the country. The Minister further said that Pakistan Post within its limited resources is performing beyond limits to deliver across all the corners of the country.
Ms. Prasher, expressed her gratitude to receive such a warm hospitality by Pakistan Post. She thanked the Federal Minister, Federal Secretary and DG (Pakistan Post) for their reception on the occasion.
The Indian Secretary, Ms Prasher while briefing on the Indian postal service operations mentioned their main project AERO, which is focused to hit the target customers across the country. She shared the concept of Integrated Post Offices in the country. Moreover, while emphasizing on the ambience of the post offices, she mentioned the “Look and Feel” approach by the management.
She explained, that in today’s modern competitive industry it is must to focus on the overall environment of the post offices. In the times to come, the country is planning to computerize all the post offices across the country. In this regard, we have arranged numerous video conferences in more than 80 different circles of the country, she added.
In the briefing given by Fazli Sattar Addl. DG (operations), he said, Pakistan is moving towards computerize integration of all the Post Offices in the country. In addition to that huge financial operations are being carried out by this department with complete effectiveness.
It includes Postal Life Insurance, Saving Bank, Collection of Taxes, Collection of Electricity, Water, Sui Gas and Telephone bills. Pakistan Post has achieved 98% results in delivering billion of Rupees to the needy in Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). Moreover, electronic money transfer project has also been successfully introduced in the country.
In the end, the Minister gave gifts to the Indian delegation showing the traditional hospitality gesture of the country. Later, the Indian Secretary also, gave gifts to the Minister Sardar Gorgaij, Federal Secretary Raja Ikram Ul Haq and DG Syed Ghulam Panjtan Rizvi.
