Karachi, August 24, 2016 (PPI-OT):Sindh Minister Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani today paid a 2nd visit of Cattle Market Super Highway, where he inspected various camps and stalls setup by the Livestock Department. He was accompanied by Director General Livestock Abdul Qadir Junejo, Director General Research Aslam Pervez Umrani, Director General Poultry Jamil Shaikh, Director Livestock Mushtaq Jokhio District Officer Livestock, Dr. Manzoor Vighio and other Veterinary Officers, Stocks Assistant and cattle related businessman and traders.
The Minister Livestock earlier visited the Cattle Market on 19th August. During the visit, he directed the officers of Livestock Department and KMC to establish camps at all entry and exit points of Karachi to take steps to prevent the Kango Virus and other diseases in Animals. He directed to KMC and other allied departments to spray all the Animals before lending to Cattle Markets Karachi in particular and in all other Markets throughout the Province in general.
The Minister Livestock on the occasion further said that to prevent the Kango Virus Disease, prevention is the best step to avoid it but the officials may discharge their duties efficiently and provide free Vaccination and other medication facilities to the Animals. He said that he would continue visits of all Cattle Markets regularly.
On the occasion, the Minister Livestock talking to media said that to prevent Kango Virus Disease, all Animal Traders should prevent and ensure cleanliness at Cattle Markets and benefit from the publicity campaign and awareness launched by the Livestock Department through pamphlets, broachers and through electronic media on daily basis to aware the general public, in this regard. He said that the Department officials is performing their duties honestly and dedicatedly to achieve the desire results of prevention of the Kango Virus on priority.
Director General Livestock, Abdul Qadir Junejo briefed the Minister about the free treatment given to the animals within four (04) days with 758 animals were treated. He said that minor disease case were reported and treated accordingly. No fatal and viral diseases were happened.
He further said that approximately, 1 to 1 ½ animals are placed in the Super Highway Cattle Market which gradually increased upto 4 / 5 lacs animals. At present 4 other Markets are established in the Karachi. We are providing free veterinary treatments to the animals in all markets throughout the province. Veterinary Doctors are performing their 24 hours duties in various shifts in the market as usual.
