Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Sports, Syed Aqil Shah has approved the plan for reconstruction of old pavilion at Qayyum Stadium, Peshawar and has asked the Allied Engineering Consultants (AEC) to initiate working on the project so that its ground breaking ceremony could be performed by the end of March 2012.
The approval to this effect was given by the Minister while presiding over a high level meeting for the early construction of old pavilion of the Qayyum Stadium at Peshawar on Thursday.
The meeting besides Mrs. Shahine Khan, Executive Director AEC was also attended by Secretary Sports Syed Jamaluddin Shah, DG Sports Engineer Khan Zeb and other concerned authorities of P and D and C and W departments.
Syed Aqil Shah asked the concerned authorities to complete the reconstruction of the said pavilion before September 2012 so that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government could be in a position to hold the All Pakistan Youth Games and All Pakistan Women Games at the stadium.
Syed Aqil Shah, in the meeting, expressed his deep concern over delay in initiating the reconstruction work of the old pavilion and asked the concerned authorities of C and W and Directorate of Sports to finalize also the projects of Hayatabad Sports Complex, Wali Khan Stadium Charsadda, Tehmas Football Stadium Shahi Bagh, Abdaal Stadium and Bacha Khan Stadium at Civil Quarters Peshawar so that the youth of the province could be provided sports facilities and they could be indulged in positive activities for making them useful citizens of the society.
