Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Science and Information Technology (IT) Muhammad Ayub Khan has stressed upon the concerned officials to initiate practical steps for restoration of water courses, irrigation channels as well as its construction and repair work which devastated in Swat during floods so that the difficulties being faced by the farmers with reference to irrigation purposes could be solved and the wastage of irrigation water controlled.
He expressed these views while presiding over a high level meeting to discuss the developmental schemes of water management held at his office on Friday. On this occasion, beside MPAs from Swat M/S Waqar Ahmad Khan, Sher Shah Khan, Rahmat Ali Khan and Syed Jaffar Shah, DG In Farm Management Aman Ilahi, DG National Program for Water Courses were also present.
The meeting took stock of the construction and restoration work of irrigation channels and water courses in District Swat in detail. The Director General In Farm Water Management Khyber Pakhtunkhwa told participants of the meeting that funds for the construction of water courses and tank for storing water would be released very soon.
The Provincial Minister Muhammad Ayub Khan while addressing on the occasion directed the high ups of the In-Farm Water Management to ensure the provision of funds for the construction and restoration of all irrigation channels and water courses in District Swat on war footings. The meeting was further told under the PSDP National Programme for water courses, construction works worth Rs. 6 billion in the province have been completed.
