Minister for Housing and Works inaugurates ‘go green’ campaign

Islamabad, April 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Dr. Younis Somroo here Thursday inaugurated the tree plantation campaign of PHA Foundation.

The Minister appreciated the objectives of the “Go Green” campaign aimed at making PHA sites environmental friendly. PHA Foundation has a programme to plant saplings at its already completed as well as ongoing project sites in Islamabad.

On the occasion, the PHA officials informed the Minister that “Go Green” was a two-pronged tree plantation strategy. The foremost objective was to promote the “Go Green” concept which signifies an endeavour to comply with international environmental standards and secondly to create awareness among masses to keep their environment as clean and green as possible.

The Minister was also briefed that PHA has completed the procurement of twelve thousand plants and this campaign has been launched from C-type apartments of G-11/4.

PHA’s plantation campaign heralds the spring season and it will continue for around a week, culminating on 10th of April. Secretary Housing, MD PHA, DG FGEHF, DG NCL, officials of PHA Foundation and other senior officials attended the ceremony.
