Minister for Climate Change takes serious notice of news item regarding Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency’s role in controlling pollution

Islamabad, February 24, 2015 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Climate Change, Mushahid Ullah Khan has taken serious notice of the news items published in different newspapers regarding Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency-Islamabad (Pak-EPA Islamabad) role and performance in controlling all sorts of environmental pollution in Islamabad and its suburbs and sought a detailed report from the environmental watchdog.

In a press statement issued here today, the minister has expressed his anguish over role of Pak-EPA (Islamabad) in controlling rising environmental pollution, particularly air and water, which has been leading to serious health problems being faced by the resident of Islamabad and its adjoining areas.

Referring to a news item published recently in daily newspapers, he called upon the environmental watchdog to play it role and penalize those culprits, which are causing environmental pollution, particularly polluting factories.

“It is role of the Pak-EPA to keep strict watch on these polluting factories and bring them to book so that residents local no more suffer from the pollution,” Mushahid Ullah Khan said. He also directed the officials of Pak-EPA to play their due role and ensure implementation of environmental laws in their true spirit for tackling rising environmental degradation and pollution in the capital and its adjoining areas.
