Islamabad, December 26, 2012 (PPI-OT): Met Office predicted wet weather over upper parts of the country during next 2-3 days and very cold weather is very likely to grip most parts of the country during the weekend.
Met Office informed that another weather system, presently giving rain/snow over Iran and Afghanistan is heading towards Pakistan and expected to approach on Thursday evening/night. Under the influence of this weather system, scattered rain is expected over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Upper Punjab, Northeast Baluchistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from Thursday evening to Saturday. While good snowfall is predicted over the hills of Upper KPK, Gilgit-Baltistan, Galliyat, Murree and Kashmir on Friday and Saturday.
Barani areas of Punjab and KP would receive good rainfall during the period that would be very beneficial for the standing crops.
Severe Cold wave is likely to grip most parts of the country during the weekend and mean temperatures are expected to fall from 4-6°C at a number of places in the country. The prevailing Dense Foggy weather expected to continue in the plain areas of Punjab on Thursday. However prevailing fog is likely to subside in parts of Punjab from Friday due to expected rain.
