Islamabad: I am pleased to know that Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has joined international community (International Organization for Standardization, International Electro Technical Commission and International Organization on Legal Metrology) to commemorate the International Standards Day on 14th October, 2011.
This year’s theme “International Standards-Creating Confidence Globally” is thought provoking and provides an opportunity to re-assess the competitiveness of our products in International markets.
The Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) has developed a wide range of standards for products, services, health, safety and environment etc. These standards have been formulated in the light of parameters set by International Organization for Standardization (ISO), International Electro Technical Commission, and International Organization on Legal Metrology (OIML).
The standards bring together experience of experts. They also play a significant role in describing its usefulness in a more appropriate manner.
We are living in an era where success of exports depends on the conformance of International Standards because it plays a critical role in promoting and creating consumer confidence in products and thereby provides much needed stimulus for growth of our economy.
In the global markets productivity alongwith conformance to International Standards determine and gives a competitive edge to the products.
