Member National Assembly of Argentina and Ambassadors of Germany and Iran call on Speaker National Assembly

Islamabad, November 06, 2013 (PPI-OT): Member of National Assembly of Argentina and Ambassadors of Germany and Iran called on Speaker, National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in Parliament House, Islamabad, today. Wide range of issues including enhancing parliamentary and economic ties between Pakistan and their respective countries came under discussion.

Talking to the member of National Assembly of Argentina Mrs. Julia Argentina Perie, the Speaker said that Pakistan attaches immense importance to Argentine and wants to take the existing warm relations between the two countries to new heights through parliamentary and economic cooperation.

He also suggested for exploring other avenues of cooperation between the two countries. The Speaker said that Pak-Argentine Parliamentary group to be formed shortly in National Assembly will give an upward momentum to the existing parliamentary relations. He also called for enhancing trade and investment between private sectors of both the countries.

Member of National Assembly of Argentina Mrs. Julia said that her country also attaches great significance to Pakistan and would extend its all-out support to Pakistan for overcoming its prevalent challenges.

She expressed her country’s desire to utilize huge economic and human resource potential in Pakistan for mutual benefit. She agreed that parliamentary friendship groups could play a vital role in enhancing bilateral relations. Convener of the Pak- Argentina Friendship Group, MNA Mr. Ghaus Bukhsh Mehr was also present in the meeting.

While talking to the German Ambassador Dr. Cyrill Jcan Nunn, the Speaker said that Pakistan strongly desires to further diversify its existing relations through people-to-people contacts and parliamentary cooperation between National Assembly and German Bundestag (Parliament).

The present Pakistani political hierarchy envisions a qualitative transformation in its relation with Germany for building a broad based, substantive and long term partnership encompassing all areas of mutual cooperation, he added.

Underlining the need for further enhancing parliamentary ties between parliaments of both the countries, he said that Pak-German parliamentarians could build bridges of friendship and understanding between two states.

He asked the Ambassador to energize the engagement between business community of the both the countries especially in energy sector to overcome the prevalent energy scarcity in the country. He also asked Dr. Cyrill to convey his invitation to his German counterpart to visit Pakistan.

German Ambassador Dr. Cyrill said that Germany also attaches great value to its relations with Pakistan and needs to further cement them. He said that Pakistan is an important country in region and it is a strong desire of his country to see Pakistan as a prosperous and stable country which is also in the interest of the region and the world. He agreed for enhancing relations between parliamentarians of both the countries.

Talking to the Iranian Ambassador Mr. Ali Reza Haghighian, he said that Pakistan believed in peaceful resolution of international problems and wanted peace and security in the region as it is essential for prosperity and development.

The Speaker said that all the political parties in Pakistan are on the same page on the issues of national importance and had mandated it to hold dialogue with deviant elements of the society to curb extremism and terrorism in the country.

He also underlined the need for enhancing investment and economic cooperation between the two countries. The speaker stressed enhanced exchange of parliamentary delegations for strengthening ties between the two countries. He thanked the Ambassador for good wishes of his Iranian counterpart and asked him to reciprocate his wishes.

Iranian Ambassador Mr. Ali Reza Haghighian thanked Speaker for his sentiments for the Iranian Leadership and said that his country also considers Pakistan as one of its brothers and wants to further strengthen the existing bilateral relations through enhancing cooperation in diverse fields.
