Islamabad: A 15th meeting of the Standing Committee on Inter Provincial Coordination was held today at 10:00 a. m. in Committee Room No. 02, first floor, Parliament House, Islamabad under the Chairpersonship of Mir Ahmedan Khan Bugti, MNA to discuss the following agenda:-
i) Briefing on Reko Diq Copper Gold Project;
ii) Briefing on Saindak Copper Gold Project;
iii) To consider amendments in the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (Amendment) Act, 2011;
iv) Any other items with the permission of the Chair.
Dr. Samar Mubarakmand started the presentation informing the Committee that in Reko Diq, resources are 730 million tones, of which 0.6% copper and 0.4g/t gold. The estimated global resources are more than three billion tones of mineralized material, including 18 million tones of copper and 35 million ounces of gold.
He informed that annual operating cost is Rs. 2,045 million, and annual profit for processing 5,000 ton / day in a single shift of work is Rs. 6,079 million, and if three shifts work per day the annual profit is Rs. 18,238 million.
He informed that other associated metals including lead, zinc, silver, cobalt, iron and sulfur were considered as additional by-products, sufficient enough to contribute in the pay back for the cash flow of the operating mine.
The Director General (Minerals), Ministry of Petroleum and NR briefed the Committee about Saindak Copper Gold project informing that total resources are 412 million tons of ore, consisting of three ore bodies, East, North and South, 100% owned by Government of Pakistan.
Total income of Government of Pakistan and Government of Balochistan from this project is US $ 44.866 million and profit share of Chinese Company is about US $ 165 million. After the briefing members appreciated the work of Dr. Samar Mubarakmand on these projects and asked that the Committee fully support these projects.
Members asked questions about these projects which were replied by the Officials. The Committee asked the media to give coverage to these projects, properly and immediately on ground basis, including all channels.
On agenda item regarding consideration on amendments in the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (Amendment) Act, after extensive discussion the Committee approved the Bill unanimously.
The meeting was attended by Haji Roz-ud-Din, Dr. Imtiaz Sultan Bukhari, Mr. Gul Muhammad Khan Jakhrani, Ms. Qudsia Arshad, Ms. Surriya Asghar, Mr. Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi, Dr. Muhammad Ayub Sheikh, Dr. Donya Aziz, and Dr. Nadeem Ehsan MNAs and senior officers from Ministry of IPC, Ministry of Petroleum and NR, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Pakistan Medical and Dental Council has also attended the meeting.
