Meeting of Sindh Industrial Liaison Committee held at Governor’s House

Karachi, January 10, 2019 (PPI-OT): A meeting of Sindh Industrial Liaison Committee (SLIC) was held here at Governor’s House. The meeting was presided over by Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, whereas CEO Karachi Infrastructure Development Company Limited (KIDCL), M.D, SSGCL, Presidents/ Senior representatives of Industrial Associations in Karachi and other members of the committee attended the meeting.

Uninterrupted Gas supply to Industrial units was discussed at length with special reference to short, mid and long term solutions. Industrial Associations agreed to voluntarily shut of their work on Sundays, if uninterrupted gas supply is ensured during the remaining days of week. M.D SSGCL appreciated the gesture of Industrial Associations and assured them for adopting maximum possible measures for uninterrupted gas supply.

It was further decided to devise a comprehensive strategy and to remove concerns, if any, in a follow-up meeting of M.D with the representatives of Industrial Associations, in this regard. The meeting also discussed with regard to provisional supply of RLNG to the Industrialists to overcome the gas shortfall. It was decided to prepare a recommendation document for Federal Government highlighting the concerns and issues confronting to Industries with possible solutions.

The meeting also discussed installation of Combined Effluent Treatment Plants. It was informed that on one hand it would reduce pollution and on the other, would cater water need of the city to some extend as well. The meeting was further informed that the 50 fire fighters under Karachi Package would be procured during the current financial year, especially for the Industrial Areas.
