Islamabad, December 19, 2012 (PPI-OT): 79th meeting of the Standing Committee on Human Rights was held on Wednesday, 19th December 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Committee Room No. 2. Parliament House Islamabad under the Chairmanship of Mr. Syed Mumtaz Alam Gillani, MNA, with reference to the agenda circulated vide notice dated 14th December, 2012.
The Committee commenced its meeting with recitation from the Holy Quran. The Chairman welcomed the participants and members of the Committee. The meeting was started with the serious concern on the absence of Advisor to Prime Minister and Secretary, Ministry of Human Rights.
The views of the members of the Committee were that the Advisor is not attending the Standing Committee meeting continuously and this act of Advisor is question of breach of privilege of the Committee. Committee decided to bring this matter in the notice of Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The issue of establishing of National Commission on Human Rights was discussed thoroughly. Upon which Committee showed displeasure and felt that Ministry is not fully prepared despite the same agenda was circulated thrice in a time and continuously postponed on the request of Advisor to Prime Minister on Human Rights and Ministry of Human Rights. Committee decided to adjourn the meeting till 7th January 2012.
Ms. Kashmala Tariq MNA, Ms, Jamila Gillani MNA, Dr. Attiya Inayatullah MNA and Mrs. Shakeeda Khanam Rasheed were present in the meeting.
