Malik chairs meeting to reviews arrangements made for Muharram

Islamabad, November 21, 2012 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Interior Senator A. Rehman Malik chaired a high level meeting in Islamabad to review law and order situation of the Federal Capital and arrangements made for Muharram-ul-Haram and D-8 Summit.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Interior, Secretary Foreign Affairs, Chief Commissioner, Islamabad, Inspector General of Police Islamabad and DG (NCMC). During the meeting, the following decisions were taken: –

a. There will be a local holiday in Islamabad Capital Territory ICT on Thursday 22nd November, 2012 on the eve of D-8 Summit.

b. All schools, colleges and educational institutions (Public and Private) will remain close on November 22, 2012.

c. All offices of District Administration as well as Pakistan Secretariat will remain close except the following: –

i. Aiwan-e-Sadar

ii. PM Secretariat

iii Ministry of Foreign Affairs

iv. Ministry of Interior

v. Chief Commissioner and DC Office.

vi. ICT Police

vii. CDA

viii. IESCO

ix. National Assembly Secretariat

x. Senate Secretariat

In addition the following security measures shall be taken on tomorrow: –

d. No motorcycle shall be allowed in Red Zone.

e. No member of general public is allowed to enter in Red Zone on November 22, 2012 except authorized persons.

f. No heavy vehicle shall be allowed to enter in ICT from mid night today.

g. No construction activity and transfer of construction material will be allowed in ICT from mid night today.

h. No motorcycle / motorcar are allowed to accompany the Jaloos.

i. Islamabad Administration should ensure that no vehicle / motorcycle is parked near Jaloos and will be parked at reasonable distance as determined by the Police.

j. Muharram Jaloos must end before sunset.
