Malaysian Vespa riders in Karachi

Karachi, June 17, 2013 (PPI-OT): Consul General of Malaysia in Karachi Abu Bakar Mamat, flags off the Samudra Vespa 1Malaysia Expedition to Mecca. The Italian vintage motorcycle enthusiasts from Malacca kicked off their journey from Chennai in India travelled through the states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh before crossing the famous Wagah border in Lahore.

They continued their journey through Multan, Sukkur and reached Karachi on Thursday 13 June. From Karachi, the group continued its expedition to Khuzdar and Quetta before crossing the Pak-Iran border at Taftan en route to UAE and Saudi Arabia. The group covers a total road journey of 3,000 km in Pakistan.

During the flagging off ceremony, the Consul General added that the gutsy performance by eight Malaysians traveling by road across the province of Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan proved an eye-opener for travellers around the world, who thought traveling by road in Pakistan is not safe.
