Malaysian High Commissioner calls on Prime Minister

Islamabad, October 08, 2012 (PPI-OT): Dr. Hasrul Sain Bin Mujtabar, Malaysian High Commissioner called on the Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf this morning at Prime Minister’s House.

The High Commissioner briefed the Prime Minister on the interest shown in trade with Pakistan by Malaysian Business Delegation which is currently visiting Pakistan to participate in Expo 2012 in Karachi.

The High Commissioner said that the Malaysian Businessmen now have a better picture of Pakistan which is different from what they hear from the media. He further informed the Prime Minister that Malaysian Businessmen are visiting various other cities of country and interacting with their counterparts.

The High Commissioner informed the Prime Minister that Malaysian Businessmen had told him that they would visit Pakistan again since Pakistan had great potential and the environment was also very conducive.

The Prime Minister said that the relations between Pakistan and Malaysia are rooted in common bond of history, religion and culture.

The Prime Minister said that there exists a free trade agreement between the two countries and we need to create awareness about this agreement to enhance business partnership between both the countries.

The Prime Minister said “Perception is not reality, seeing is believing”. The keenness of visiting Malaysian Businessmen the Prime Minister said, is a testimony that Pakistan has a great potential which presents opportunities to investors.

The Prime Minister expressed the hope that the businessmen from both the countries would explore new avenues so that the trade in balance which is presently in favour of Malaysia could be reduced.
