Islamabad, January 03, 2013 (PPI-OT): Malala Yousufzai is continuing her rehabilitation in the UK. The 15-year-old was shot by the Taliban in Swat for campaigning for girls’ education. Her cranial reconstruction surgery will be done in late January or early February as part of her long-term recovery, says a press release received from London here today.
Dr Dave Rosser, Medical Director, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Malala has continued to make great progress in her treatment. A number of QEHB’s multi-specialist doctors have been working alongside colleagues from Birmingham Children’s Hospital to treat her. The medical team has included clinicians from Neurosurgery, Imaging, Trauma and Therapies.
Malala’s father Ziauddin has decided that at this stage he and the family are not in a position to consider requests from any media until after Malala has recovered from reconstructive cranial surgery. The family requests that media respect their privacy at this time.
