Peshawar: Malala Yousfzai, International Peace Award nominee, along with her parents was called on Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ameer Haider Khan Hoti. Provincial ministers from Swat Wajid Ali Khan and Muhammad Ayub Ashari and DCO Swat Kamran Rahman were also present on the occasion.
The CM lauded her courageous role in raising voice for girls’ education in extreme difficult and dark era in Malakand division and hand over cheque worth Rs. 5, 00, 000 as prize on behalf of provincial government. He said that entire nation highly value the courage and bravery of the people of Malakand division that they demonstrated in testing times.
He said that million people have left their homes and belongings for survival of the country and nation which was matchless, added, the credit of safe return of IDPs to their native homes went to host districts who provide shelter to those homeless people in their hearts and homes under spirit of ‘Rorwali’(Brotherhood).
The CM said that educational institutes, particularly girls schools were adversely affected the most and the doors of education were forcefully closed on girls during that dark era of terrorism, added, Malala Yousufzai raised voice through pen during that critical circumstances which was commendable from all aspects and her role was source of honour for us.
He said that we were committed for interacting entire conspiracies woven for pushing our youth into darkness of ignorance, added, the government has preferred rehabilitation of educational institutes and establishment of new institutes in Malakand division under reconstruction process after establishment of peace.
He said that establishment of Cadet College and university well reflects that commitment. Malala Yousufzai said that Bacha Khan’s reformatory, social and educational services greatly inspired her. The CM said that Bacha Khan’s services to Pakhtuns commenced with establishment of Azad madrassa’s for education to children which later turned to fully fledged movement with passage of time.
Malala Yousufzai termed the prize as an honour and said that she wishes to establish vocational center and hostel for girls in her area under social work till completion of education. The CM said that the provincial government will play its role in realizing her wish. Malala Yousufzai stressed the need for another degree college for girls in Mingora.
The CM asked concerned authorities for report in this connection. Father Malala Yousufzai, Zia-ud-Din Yousufzai and her uncle’s Mansoor and Azim khan thanked the CM and provincial government on encouraging Malala Yousufzai.
