Karachi, April 08, 2015 (PPI-OT): Lifetime membership of Karachi Press Club (KPC) was conferred on Governor of Sindh, Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan in an impressive ceremony here on Wednesday. The ceremony was largely attended by the KPC members and the office bearers headed by its President, Fazal Jamili and Secretary and A.H. Khanzada.
Sindh Governor expressing his gratitude to the KPC members said the Karachi Press Club holds a unique status among all such institutions in the country and that its contribution towards national progress could also not be ignored.
On the occasion Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan also assured to help solve problems faced by the KPC members with specific reference to KPC Journalists Society schemes in Hawke’s Bay and Malir respectively. “I am particularly perturbed that the lease issue of KPC building has not been solved and though it falls under the jurisdiction of federal government I in my capacity would help to address the issue,” said the Sindh Governor.
Responding to the KPC members about absolutely no provision for government funds, otherwise allocated to other press clubs in shape of annual grants, he assured to also draw attention of the concerned authorities towards the matter.
He was also informed that Rs. one crore announced by Malik Riaz for KPC, in presence of Sindh Governor some time ago were yet to be released. “I will definitely approach the person concerned,” said Governor Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan. He said that now being a KPC member he would ensure to frequently visit the club. Later KPC governing body presented ajrak and bouquet to the Governor.
