Islamabad: Law Minister, Farooq H Naek called on Prime Minister this evening at the PM’s House and discussed legal matters aimed at facilitating the administration of justice including the streamlining of the procedures to make governance more effective and efficient.
The Prime Minister said that the provision of speedy and inexpensive justice is the longstanding demand of the people and the government would fully support the law Ministry to realize this objective.
The Prime Minister said that it is unfortunate that delay in the dispensation of justice is a big source of discomfort to the people as its pursuit is both arduous and painful.
The Prime Minister said that the present democratic government was committed to provide justice to the people at their doorsteps.
The Prime Minister directed that access to justice programme should be coordinated and made accessible so that a common man should benefit from it.
The Prime Minister also instructed the Law Minister to look into the reasons of delay in the disposal of the cases and the numbers of prisoners languishing in the jails whose cases are not proceeding. The Prime Minister added that the Minister should visit jails so as to provide justice to them and their cases should be disposed off quickly in accordance with law and constitution.
The Minister for Law appreciated the concern of the Prime Minister about the prisoners and said that he would soon visit the jails to have first hand knowledge about the conditions and the causes of delay of the disposal of their cases.
