Law and Order situation in the province is under control: Chief Minister Sindh

Karachi, March 17, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that Law and Order situation in the province was substantially under control and added that at present Sindh has achieved the status of zero crime in kidnapping for ransom. He said that though law and order was the provincial subject but Sindh Govt was enjoying effective support from Federal Govt and Pak Army and implementing on targeted operation and national action plan with out and discrimination.

He said that now Karachi has became a peaceful city where people are visiting even in odd hours in different areas. He said that Karachi was an important city of the region and it has good potential of trade, business and investment opportunities in different sectors. He asked specially to the countries of European Union to avail these opportunities for which Sindh Govt to provide all possible help to them.

This he observed while talking to the Ambassador of Italy Mr. Adriano Chiodi CianFarani who called on him at CM House Karachi today. He said that Sindh Govt has now envisaged and complete mechanism to deal with Law and Order effectively under which we have not only opened new but strong components / wings in the Sindh Police but providing latest training, equipments, Arms, Ammunition and Bullet Proof Vastes, Vehicles to the Sindh Police to enable it to fight terrorism with success. He said that because of these steps the heinous crimes, including targeted killings in Karachi has been substantially declined.

Where as in interior Sindh we have achieved status of zero crime in kidnapping for ransom and declined in other crimes. He said that Govt have brought the amendment in the constitution for the sake of peoples security under which the Army Court have been established. He said that out of 86 identified cases, about 61 to 64 cases of terrorists have been sent to the Army Court for their trial and added that this process to continue.

He said that these steps are putting good impact on our business and investment activities and it’s to boost the economy. He said that by virtue of technical expertise, we want to enhance the bilateral relations with Italy and other countries of European Union, in the exchange of export of our food and fruit items.

He said that Pakistan including Sindh Province experiencing shortage of energy and Italy has Technical Expertise specially to produce powers from solid waste where as Karachi has good potential in this sector. He said that we have also other resources such as coal, gas and wind corridor to generate powers and we will encourage such type of investment here.

The visiting Ambassador of Italy Mr. Adriano Chiodi CianFarani while talking in the meeting said that we consider the Sindh as key province of Pakistan. He said that having been seaport, Sindh has more importance in the trade and business with other countries. He said that after status of GSP Plus the trade with Pakistan has been increased in European Union.

Expressing his interest in the field of bio-gas, education and health sector, the Ambassador also offered soft loan in these sectors and desired for enhancing bilateral relations with Sindh province. The Secretary to CM Alummuddin Bullo was also present in the meeting.
