Karachi, November 13, 2012 (PPI-OT): Land grabbing mafia is rapidly grabbing the land allocated for the Greater Karachi Water Project K-IV and ignorance in this regard can cause a severe damage to the project. The project is vital for the city’s growing water needs and immediate action must be taken on the sites, said Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board in his letter to Interior Secretary, Senior Member of CBR and Commissioner Karachi. The copy of the said letter is sent to Chief Justice Sindh High Court, Governor Sindh and Chief Minister Sindh.
M.D KW and SB has requested the higher authorities to take immediate action against the Land Grabbing Mafia involved in grabbing 868 acres of K-IV land at Deah Halkani near Hub Pumping Station. He also reminded the officials about several letters written to them regarding this issue but no action has been taken yet.
In his letter he stated that the said land is allocated for K-IV project which is vital for the betterment of the city and fulfilling the growing water need. Moreover, KW and SB has been informing the higher officials regarding the Land Mafia activities on K-IV land but to no avail.
He appealed Interior Secretary, D.I.G Karachi, Senior Member of CBR and Commissioner Karachi to take immediate action against the Land Mafia involved in possessing K-IV and other KW and SB land so that the land can be used for the betterment of the citizens in upcoming projects.
Karachi Water and Sewerage Board will be establishing a reservoir and filter plant under K-IV project on the said land and these projects would directly benefit the citizens. However, due to the land mafia activities the project schedule can be vitally damaged causing trouble for the citizens of Karachi, and the KW and SB main trunks as well.
