Lahore, October 04, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Thursday urged the government to stop National Accountability Bureau (NAB) from harassing the traders and consumer dealers of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) over pricing issue.
The LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar and Vice President Mian Abuzar Shad were talking a delegation of Steel Sheet Dealers Association.
The Secretary General of the Steel Sheet Dealers Association Anjum Butt informed the LCCI President that the trader and consumer dealers have no control over the prices of the products of Pakistan Steel Mills but the National Accountability Bureau is punishing them without any solid evidence and serving them with repeated notices.
Anjum Butt said that the prices of products sold by Steel Mills are set by the Mills management itself and no outsider can influence the prices. He said that this is completely unheard of in such cases. He said that the responsibility of corruption and mismanagement fall entirely on the shoulders of the management of PSM.
Anjum Butt said that at this point in time when businesses are under tremendous pressure due to multiple internal and external challenges, the NAB authorities are acting at the behest of the vested interests instead of unveiling the black sheep involved in corruption in Pakistan Steel Mills and are protecting them and harassing the dealers.
Dealers of Pakistan Steel Mills would be bound to close down their business if the NAB authorities do not stop arm-twisting tactics. The LCCI President Farooq Iftikhar urged the government to order immediate suspension of such high discriminatory treatment of dealers that is causing undue harassment, unrest and anxiety in the business community and appealed that PSM new management be involved in probing the above issue.
