Kuwait Society for Relief offers 155 tons of medical supplies to Yemen

Kuwait Kuwait Society for Relief on Saturday handed over 155 tons of medical supplies to Yemen’s Ministry of Public Health as a first tranche of a $2 million worth donation from Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

This contribution, by the emir the humanitarian leader, falls within the humanitarian campaign launched three years ago under the theme Kuwait Is Beside You”, to support the people of Yemen.

Yemeni Minister of Public Health and Population Nasser Baum expressed gratitude to the Kuwaiti emir for his generous contribution to the humanitarian campaign.

“Kuwait Society for Relief and Patients Helping Fund Society stood by the Yemeni people during the hardest times,” Baum told reporters on the fringes of the ceremony of the aid delivery.

“The medical supplies, donated by Kuwait, include intravenous fluids and antibiotics, which will play an essential role in shoring up the health sector across the Yemeni governorates,” he added.

On her part, Director General of the National Program of Medical Supplies Soad Maysari thanked the emir as well as the Kuwaiti government and people for supporting the Yemeni health sector.

It is noteworthy that the Kuwait Society for Relief had previously offered 505 tons of medical supplies, including drugs and intravenous fluids, to Yemen.
