The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has devised a masterplan for development of Mardan city by 2040.

According to the Land Use and Building Control Authority, the plan will include provision of clean drinking water, drainage system, ease of transportation, residential facilities, protection of agricultural and cultural heritage.
