Islamabad, October 23, 2012 (PPI-OT): A delegation of Scheduled Caste Rights Movement Pakistan called on the Advisor to Prime Minister on Human Rights, Mr. Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar. The delegation apprised the Advisor about their problems due to the non-registration of their marriages.
They informed the Advisor that they can neither get passport nor the funds from Benazir Income Support Program due to the lack of certificate of marriage. Moreover they face difficulties in registering the FIRs in the cases of kidnappings of their girls.
They demanded the legislation on the Hindu marriages. Responding to the demand of the delegation the Advisor to PM on Human Rights Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that in the mid of the next month a conference will be called to settle the differences of the stakeholders of Hindu Marriage Bill and to finalize the draft of the Hindu Marriage Bill. He further said that the government is committed to overcome the atrocities of the minorities of Pakistan.
The delegation representing both men and women from all the four provinces of Pakistan lauded the response of the Advisor to their demand of legislation on Hindu Marriage.
