Sikhs for Justice, Australian chapter, is holding voting for Khalistan independence referendum in Melbourne on sunday.

Representative of the Miri Piri Gurudwara in Melbourne Ravi Inder Singh told Australian media that the voting exercise would be a significant step towards ‘self-determination’ for millions of Sikhs around the world.

The referendum is aimed to establish a separate Sikh state in India.

Sikhs have faced increasing discrimination in India, especially with growth of Hindu nationalism.
