Key decisions taken in Pakistan Cycling Federation’s meeting

Lahore, November 20, 2012 (PPI-OT): PCF’s General Council Meeting was held at Lahore Gymkhana on November 17th, under the chairmanship of President Mr. Munawar Baseer Ahmad. In the meeting several key decisions were taken in view of the illegal and bogus body set-up by the former Secretary General PCF, which is being patronized by POA in contravention to PCF, UCI and POA constitutions.

The house discussed in detail the Islamabad High Court decisions and decided to lodge a “Contempt of Court” case against POA’s President General (R) Arif Hassan and all those claiming positions in the bogus body, namely Nauraiz Shakoor Khan, Idris Haider Khawaja, Kamran Amin, Khalid and Shahid Ali Khan.

It was also informed to the General Council that Union Cycliste International (UCI) in its e-mail of October 24, 2012 clearly warned Idris H. Khawaja to not to use the bogus letter head claiming affiliation with UCI and ACC, failing which UCI will impose sanctions on Idris Khawaja.

However as per correspondence provided by the various affiliated units Idris Khawaja has used the bogus letterhead in his correspondence of November 12, 2012 and several other letters. The General Council agreed unanimously that the PCF should report this transgression to UCI, ACC, and to also lodge a Contempt of Court against the noted persons shown as holding positions in the bogus and illegal body.

The council also took notice of the illegal activities of some PCF units and decided to issue explanation letters to all those who participated in cycling events that were illegally organized. These include WAPDA and Pakistan Railways.

The matters regarding the affairs of Sindh Cycling Association were also discussed and it was decided to suspend the present body with a resolution to conduct the fresh elections of Sindh Cycling Association on December 1, 2012 at Karachi.

The Council also granted provisional affiliation to FATA Cycling Association and it was decided that full affiliation will be granted to FATA Cycling Association after their General Council Meeting which will be attended by the President and General Secretary of KP Cycling Association.

The house also granted permission to constitute ad-hoc committee for holding elections of Punjab Cycling Association. The meeting also approved the members and office bearers of the Judges and Coaches Association. The house also decided that the elected representative of each of the two (2) Associations will be allowed one (1) vote in the General Council.

The council also deliberated at length on various major events and activities at the National and Provincial levels before approving the event’s calendar till June 2013. (Copy attached for reference).
