KESC likely to get 100 mmcfd gas in 3 months – Alfalah Securities Limited

Karachi: Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) would be provided at least 100 mmcfd gas by the LPG air-mix plant of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) in the next quarter as claimed by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources.

According to Alfalah Securities Limited, this will help in reducing load shedding for domestic and industrial consumers of KESC and ease energy crisis in Karachi. KESC is installing 600MW power plant to meet the growing demand for electricity, and a portion of the available gas will be provided to this plant. Additional gas supply of 200mmcfd is expected from gas fields by the end of FY12 which would lower the gas shortfall and Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline is also expected to come online in mid FY13.
