Islamabad, October 25, 2012 (PPI-OT): “Katas Raj Mandir (Temple) complex is not only a religious heritage for Hindu community in Pakistan but also a cultural heritage of Pakistan as well”
Dr Paul Bhatti, Minister in Charge for the Ministry of National Harmony and Advisor to Prime Minister on interfaith-harmony said this while visiting the historic temple complex along with Pakistan Muslim League (Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to monitor the ongoing restoration work on the temple. The temple is situated in Katas village near Choa Saidan Shah in the Chakwal district of Punjab in Pakistan.
The government of Pakistan has recently taken serious steps towards preservation and maintenance of this valuable cultural heritage and for this purpose Honourable President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari has constituted a committee comprising of Dr Paul Bhatti and PML (Q) leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to oversee the preservation work on the temple complex. The maintenance work on this ancient temple is being carried out under the guidance of the above mentioned committee.
During their visit the members of committee expressed satisfaction on the pace of work.
“Such historical entities show a diversified and rich cultural history of Pakistan,” said the minister.
Dr Paul also added that the present ruling government was committed to maintain and preserve all the religious and cultural sites belonging to various communities in Pakistan.
