Kashmiris won’t exercise vote for farcical polls

Srinagar, April 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has said that the people of Kashmir will exercise their vote not for farcical elections but only when they are provided their inalienable right to self-determination. Syed Ali Gilani, who is under house arrest in Srinagar, talking to a delegation of the people who called on him at his residence expressed the resolve that the Kashmiris would not compromise on their freedom struggle for petty concessions.

He said that India by dint of military might was plundering the resources of occupied Kashmir and perpetuating its hold on it.

The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front will hold a protest demonstration at Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Friday to seek mortal remains of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru from Delhi’s Tihar jail to the Kashmiris.

Illegally detained APHC leader, Nayeem Ahmad Khan talking to media persons during his appearance before a court in Srinagar said that the Kashmiris detained at Kotbhalwal jail in Jammu were being treated inhumanly and humiliated by the jail authorities. Later, he was admitted at the Soura Medical Institute in Srinagar for health problems.

The APHC leaders including Musaddiq Aadil, Yasmeen Raja, Zafar Akbar Butt, Shakeel Ahmad Bakshi, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Javed Ahmad Mir, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed, Bashir Ahmad Tota, Imtiaz Raishi and others paid glowing tributes to the renowned Kashmiri liberation leader, S Hameed on his 15th martyrdom anniversary, today, at Mazar-e-Shuhada Eidgah in Srinagar.

The APHC AJK chapter in its meeting, chaired by Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, also paid homage to the liberation leader. S Hamid Wani was arrested by the Indian police and was killed in custody on 18th April in 1998 at Soura in Srinagar.

Protests erupted in Islamabad town after an overspeeding Indian army vehicle deliberately hit and injured a schoolboy at Hangalgund in Kokernag.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani in a statement issued in Islamabad welcomed President Asif Ali Zardari’s reiteration of Pakistan’s support to the Kashmir cause while addressing the joint session of the AJK Legislative Assembly and Council at Muzaffarabad, yesterday.
