Kashmiris will continue to fight illegal occupation

Srinagar, April 20, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani has maintained that the Kashmiri people will continue their struggle against the illegal Indian occupation of their territory. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, rejected the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s assertions that Kashmir was a small India.

He termed Modi’s slogans of humanity, Kashmiriyat and democracy as mere lip-service, as they had lost their meanings in Kashmir where Indian forces were killing people on daily basis. The octogenarian leader said that it would be unbecoming for Indian Prime Minister to raise the slogan of democracy unless he respected the verdict of the Kashmiri people.

The APHC General Secretary Shabbir Ahmad Shah in his statement said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir could not be made fool through sweet slogans. The Chairman of his own Hurriyet forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a media interview in Srinagar reiterated his demand for demilitarisation of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that heavy presence of military bunkers was the main reason for loss of innocent lives in the territory.

Hurriyet leaders including Aasiya Andrabi, Farida Behanji, Yasmin Raja, Zamruda Habib, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Javed Ahmad Mir and others in their separate statements called upon India to shun its intransigent attitude and settle the Kashmir dispute as per aspirations of the Kashmiri people. The High Court Bar Association has filed a petition demanding a probe into the molestation of a schoolgirl and subsequent killings in Handwara by a sitting judge. The petition was filed by Bar President Mian Qayoom.

Meanwhile, the authorities continued to keep Hurriyet leaders, Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Zafar Akbar Butt and others in illegal detention at houses or in jails. The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chapter held a peaceful protest outside the United Nations Observers’ Office in Islamabad, today, against the killing of youth in Kupwara. The protest was led by APHC-AJK Convener, Ghulam Muhammad Safi.
