Kashmiris urged to remain aloof from farcical polls

Srinagar, April 16, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the leaders and activists of Islamic Political Party Jammu and Kashmir visited different areas of Ganderbal in connection with the anti-election campaign.

The leaders and activists including Showkat Ahmad Butt, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, Muzaffar Ahmad Butt, Irfan Ahmad Mir and Sajjad Ahmad Lone visited Takenwari, Sangam, Bajeweder, Shokhapora, Syedapora and Zonimar areas.

On the occasion, they urged the people to completely boycott the fraud and sham elections in the territory to honour the sacrifices of the Kashmiri martyrs.

They said that casting votes in the farcical elections was harmful for the ongoing liberation movement as India exploited the participation of Kashmiri people in the polls in its favour at the international level. They also distributed pamphlets and posters among the people apprising them of the harmful effects of participating in the so-called polls.

Meanwhile, Islamic Political Party Jammu and Kashmir strongly condemned the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leader, Mushtaq-ul-Islam. It appealed to the international human rights organisations to take notice of arrest and detention of political leaders and impress upon India to release them forthwith.

The party also paid glowing tributes to the youth who were recently martyred by Indian troops in Srinagar and Pulwama areas and said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and their mission would be accomplished at all costs.
