Srinagar, January 22, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik has said that India has subjected people of Kashmir to the worst kind of oppression and torture, therefore, India has no right to celebrate its Republic Day in the territory and Kashmiri people will observe a complete shutdown on the day.
Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement issued in Srinagar said that people of Kashmir through their complete shutdown would mark the January 26 as a black day. All kinds of transport, business centres and other activities would come to standstill and Kashmiris through their peaceful protest would convey a message to the whole world that despite all oppression they were rendering sacrifices for freedom.
He said that India celebrated its Republic Day on January 26 every year and called itself the largest democracy of the world but it had snatched the democratic right of Kashmiris by its military might and was denying them their birthright to self-determination. He said that it was India and its leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru who pledged before the international community that the Kashmiris would be given the right to self-determination but despite the passage of several decades the commitment was yet to be fulfilled.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Yasin Malik expressed heartfelt grief and sorrow over the sad demise of mother of Manzoor Ahmad Dar of Rawalpora, who is missing in custody for last many years. He along with a delegation visited the family members and expressed solidarity with them. He also expressed sorrow over the demise of wife of Khawaja Haji Muhammad sultan Dar of Hyderpora who was also grandmother of JKLF leader, Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, and mother of another resistance leader G M Dar.
