Srinagar, April 09, 2013 (PPI-OT): The relatives of two Kashmiri youth, detained in Jaipur Central Jail on fake charges, have said that the authorities are subjecting them to severe torture in the prison.
The relatives of the youth in a media interview in Srinagar said that that the jail authorities ordered all the inmates to assemble in the jail premises on Sunday morning and then started beating ruthlessly Lateef Ahmad Waja son of Ghulam Ahmad Waja and Mirza Nisar Hussain Ahmad Waja son of Ghulam Ahmad Waja from Srinagar without any provocation.
“They suffered serious injuries and were shifted to an unknown hospital,” Iftikhar Hussain, the brother of Nisar Hussain said.
He said that they had learnt about the incident from a man who had recently met his brother lodged in the same jail. Nisar and Lateef were arrested by Delhi Police on a fake charge of bomb blast at Lajpat Nagar in 1996. However, they were acquitted by the High Court, but were re-arrested later another charge of Dausa blast in Jaipur.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement, Farida Behnji in a statement denounced the ill treatment meted out to the Kashmiris in Indian jails. She said that New Delhi was subjecting the Kashmiri inmates to the worst persecution inside India’s jails under a premeditated policy.
