Kashmir settlement imperative for regional peace: Waza

Srinagar, April 09, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza has said that peace and stability can be guaranteed in South Asia only after settlement of the internationally-accepted Kashmir dispute as per aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

Mukhtar Ahmad Waza in a press statement in Srinagar said that the dispute had threatened the peace of entire region.

“Kashmir is a sleeping volcano and it can burst any time if not addressed as nuclear-armed countries are involved in the issue,” he warned.

He said that Kashmir was an internationally-recognized issue and its resolution could bring permanent peace in south Asia and provide the economic prosperity to both Pakistan and India.

“The grave human rights violations including custodial killings, fake encounters and sexual harassment are taking place in the territory from time to time because of the pending dispute. So world powers, especially the UNO can play their role resolution of the dispute,” he said.
