Srinagar, April 19, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Zafar Akbar Butt, has called for early resolution of the Kashmir dispute for ensuring durable peace in South Asia. Zafar Akbar Butt, who is under house arrest in Srinagar, in a statement said that Kashmir was an internationally-acknowledged disputed territory as India had illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in 1947 and since then continued its illegal occupation with the help of military might.
The JKSM Chairman condemned the killings, arrests and restrictions in the occupied territory particularly in Handwara and Kupwara areas during the past week. He said that such kinds of brutal tactics could not deter the Kashmiris from continuing their liberation struggle.
Zafar Akbar Butt said that the Kashmiri people had given matchless sacrifices in their ongoing freedom movement and they were determined to take it to its logical conclusion at all costs. He urged New Delhi to shun its rigidity and initiate process for resolving the Kashmir conflict. He also appealed to the world community to play its due role in this regard.
Meanwhile, the JKSM spokesman in a statement strongly condemned the continued house detention of party Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt, and other Hurriyet leaders and fresh arrest spree in different parts of the Kashmir Valley.
