Brussels, January 27, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Advisory Council of Kashmir Centre European Union (KCEU) hosted a demonstration outside the Indian Embassy in Brussels to mark the Indian Republic Day as Black Day. The KCEU Chairman, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo, addressing the demonstrators said, “As India celebrates the 63rd anniversary of the signing of its constitution we gather here today (Saturday) to show the will of the Kashmiri people to achieve such freedom for themselves. It is with sorrow that I stand here once more and it will be with joy that Kashmiris have a day to mark the signing of their chosen constitution and we can celebrate instead of protesting.”
Condemning the recent unfortunate rape incident in New Delhi and applauding the response of Indian civil society, he questioned the sincerity of the same civil society by closing their eyes to the routine rapes perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir. He recalled the Kunan-Poshpora and the Shopian incidents.
“During the EU India Delegation meeting that took place in the European Parliament yesterday (Friday) afternoon I witnessed once more the subject of human rights in Kashmir being raised and questions being asked,” he said.
KCEU will ensure that we continue our work to raise the pertinent issue of Kashmir until such a time as the Kashmiri people witness a resolution of the Kashmir dispute as per their aspirations, he added. Barrister Tramboo also denounced the recent violations of ceasefire by the Indian armed forces on the Line of Control and calling off the dialogue by India with Pakistan.
The demonstration was participated by Raja Zaheer Ahmed, Coordinator of the Advisory Council of the KCEU, Raja Tahir Mehmood, Yousuf Akhtar, Rana Musharraf, Sohail Kahloon, Khalid Mehmood, Mohammed Nawaz Butt, Athar Balti and Javed Choudhry (PPP-Belgium), Choudhry Iftikhar Warraich (Chairman, Pak-Belgie Welfare Association), Mian Rafiq, General Secretary (PPP-Italy), Nasir Ahmed Choudhry, Coordinator (PM-AJK), Syed Hasnat Shah Bukhari, Imam of Minhajulquran Mosque, Maqsood Ahmed Jarral, President (PML-N Belgium), Zafar Mehmood Choudhry (PPP-AJK), and many other members of the Kashmiri community.
