Karachi, February 18, 2015 (PPI-OT): Abdul Rahim Janoo, Senior Vice President FPCCI expressed his serious concern over deteriorated condition of main Karachi Water Filter Plant which is the biggest filter plant of KWSB located at Super Highway where unfiltered water from Dhabeji, Kalri and Pipri id supplied for filtration for onward supply to residential, commercial and industrial localities of Karachi city.
He said that the machinery worth of millions has been out of order for the last several years due to non-maintenance and the habitants of Karachi have been supplied un-filtered water for the last more than 5 years. He further said that about 200 employees have been posted on the said filter plant but around only 20 people are working in different shifts and the rest seem ghost employees.
He further said that it is surprising that the office of Director Administration of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) is located behind Civic Centre which is responsible for posting, job scheduling and administrative matter of Karachi Filter Plant but no senior officer even bother to visit the said filter plant to see its function and distribution of water and attendance of employees.
Abdul Rahim Janoo urged the Chief Minister Sindh, Minister for local bodies and City Government to look into the matter of Karachi Water Filter Plant at Supper Highway and take immediate actions for repairing the machinery and improve the condition of human resource so that smooth supply of water to the residential, commercial and industrial localities of Karachi city can be managed.
