Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Begins Action for Recovery of 1.5 Billion Dues

Karachi: Municipal Commissioner KMC Matanat Ali Khan has said that a full fledged campaign for recovery of about Rs1.5billion dues outstanding for plots auctioned in various KDA Schemes and Townships was being carried out during which allotment of defaulter’s plots would be cancelled.

He was chairing a meeting on land recovery which was attended by the Financial Adviser, Senior Director Master Plan, District Chief Engineer, Director Recovery and Director Estate and Enforcement. On this occasion the Municipal Commissioner directed all departments to improve their performance. It was decided in the meeting to initiate immediate operation on gradual basis for removal of all encroachments and illegal constructions on commercial plots.

In the first phase action against the encroachments and illegal constructions would be taken on 28th February in Korangi Town while all such structures will also be removed in Surjani Town and North Karachi during the campaign.

Municipal Commissioner Matanat Ali Khan has appealed to citizens to pay their dues in time and avoid the cancellation of their plots. Over 50 city wardens were deputed to take part in the operation to be carried out by anti encroachments squad with the help of heavy machinery and police.
