Karachi, April 02, 2015 (PPI-OT): KMC Administrator Saqib Ahmed Soomro said Empress Marke t(old Shahabuddin Market) was being constructed in the heart of Karachi. Its completion would solve the vehicle parking problems in the Saddar area besides promoting the trade and commercial activities in the city. KMC has speed up its construction works and this project will be completed in least possible time. He expressed these views on the balloting of shops of Empress Mall in the first phase of the project on Thursday.
Metropolitan Commissioner Masood Alam, Financial Advisor Afaq Saeed, Senior Director Transport and Communication Muhammed Ather, Director Pubic Housing Sabahul Islam and other officers were also present on this occasion. Administrator Karachi said this project was delayed in past however, following the directive of provincial minister for local government Sharjeel Inam Memon work on it resumed speedily.
In the first phase balloting of shops was held today and shops were being allotted to 277 applicants who succeeded in the draw. The allottees should now submit the remaining amount as soon as possible which will be spent on the construction works of this project so that they could be given ownership rights of shops at the earliest.
He said the applications for the second phase of the project will be called soon whereas work on the settlement of effectees of old Shahabuddin Market will also begin soon. He said the development works will be accelerated further to finish it as soon as possible. Meanwhile the draw for the shops of Empress Mall was held in the Civic Center on Thursday in the presence of the applicants.
This may be noted that space for 445 shops was available in the ground, mezzanine and first floor of the project for which a total of 277 applications were received by KMC. The allocation letter will be handed over to the successful applicants in next two weeks.
