Karachi, May 16, 2016 (PPI-OT):KMC Administrator Laeeq Ahmed said the Government of Sindh released the sum of Rs180milion for providing of medicines to KMC run hospitals whereas the Chief Minister of Sindh has also agreed for soon granting approval of Rs1billion to meet the expenditures to be incurred on the procurement of medicines and maintenance of medical equipments in a year time.
He expressed these views on the handing over of 5 big CNG buses to the administration of Karachi Medical and Dental College in the premises of KMDC on Monday. The college principal Prof. Dr. Nargis Anjum received the keys of buses meant to provide travel facility to students of KMDC in a ceremony which was attended by the Senior Director Medical Services Dr. Muhammad Ali Abbasi, Senior Director Transport and Communication Muhammad Ather, CNG bus project Director Mirza Ghousullah Baig, Vice Principal KMDC Dr. Farhat Jaffery, head of Dentistry Section Professor Mehmood Haider, Director Administration Nargis Shagufta, Director Finance KMDC Rafi Murshid Khan and others.
In his address Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed said these buses would provide considerable travel relief to the students of this institution as they would be able to focus more on their studies. He said the problems of KMDC will be solved on priority basis and in this connection the general body meeting of the institution will be called soon. He however urged the administration of KMDC to submit only genuine problems of the institutions and make it sure that the budget be made realistic.
In a briefing on this occasion, it was informed that the college offers admission to 350 students per year on merit basis and so far 6 batches have passed out after completing the medical education. The dentistry section was started in 2008 in KMDC and now hundreds of patients were being provided with diagnosis and treatment facility here whereas many projects regarding this hospital were included in the next ADP.
