Karachi, April 13, 2016 (PPI-OT):KMC Administrator Laeeq Ahmed said launching of Saif-ur-Rehman Girami awards would make retired KMC officers feel that their services were being remembered and acknowledged. This appreciation would also encourage KMC officers to perform well and play their role in the progress and development of the city. Addressing as chief guest in the Saif-ur-Rehman Girami Awards 2016 Ceremony held by the KMC Officers Welfare Association in KMC Officers Club on Tuesday, he praised Saif-ur-Rehman Girami for his great service to society.
Those who received award on this occasion include retired officer Ansar-ul-Haq Qureshi, Muhammad Zakir, Hassan Imam Siddiqui, Razia Sultana, Khuda Buksh Shaikh, Rehana Saif, Zameer Ahmed Siddiqui, Dr. Rasheed Fatima, Dr. Waqar H. Kazmi and Liaquat Ali Khan. The family members of 4 martyred fire brigade officers including Muhammad Ishaq, Yasir Iqbal, Javed Ahmed and Zafar Akhter received this award with a cheque of Rs25 thousand from the KMC Officers Welfare Funds whereas younger brother of late Saif-ur-Rehman Girami, Professor Dr. Shakeel-ur-Rehman received the memorial shield on behalf of his family.
Speaking on this occasion Administrator Karachi said Saif-ur-Rehman Girami held magnetic personality. His name and services would be remembered for ever. KMC Officers Association has done a good job by initiating this great recognition of the services of retired officers. He said the KMC officers should in the light of their past experiences play their positive role in the development and progress of the city.
Administrator Karachi said health insurance should not be limited to officers but other KMC employees should also avail this facility. Professor Shakil-ur-Rehman said his family was happy to see that KMC officers Association have launched an award named after Saif-ur-Rehman Girami who served KMC for a long time. For us every KMC officer is like Saif-ur-Rehman Girami. The president of KMC Officers Welfare Association Muhammad Rehan Khan, General Secretary Mazhar Khan, joint secretary Bashir Saddozai also spoke on this occasion. In the end KMC Administrator Laeeq Ahmed was also presented with a memento.
