Karachi, February 18, 2015 (PPI-OT): Administrator Karachi Saqib Ahmed Soomro has expressed concern for not submitting the information by some civic organizations with regard to utilities coming in the way of BRT Blue Lines Project. He said this project holds much importance in the transport sector for city of Karachi and it must be initiated and completed in time therefore government organizations should cooperate in it and provide the required information by 25th February 2015 so that the final PC-1 could be prepared and work on it start without any trouble.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of the committee comprising the representatives of the utility services providers in Civic Centre on Wednesday. The committee has been formed by the Chief Secretary of Sindh under the chairmanship of Administrator Karachi Saqib Ahmed Soomro.
Those who attended the meeting include the Metropolitan Commissioner Masood Alam, Senior Director Transport and Communication Muhammed Ather, representatives of SBCA, Master Plan Department, KW and SB, SSGS, K-Electric and ABAD. The meeting was informed that the 54km long route of BRT Blue Lines from Bahria Town, Superhighway to Tower and the 12km route from Superhighway to Airport was already finalized and work on it will start soon, however some problems were emerged due to non provision of whole information about utility services by some of the organizations including the relocation plan and the estimated expenditures that would incur on them.
Administrator Saqib Soomro said this project must not be delayed owing to none providing of details regarding utility services from USPs as the installations of Sui Southern Gas Company were having much importance. He said the Sindh Government desired and directed early start of work on this project which was considered quite important for the people in Karachi.
He further observed that the public transport problems in Karachi were increasing with each day and that is why mass transit projects must complete as soon as possible and for this every organization should fulfil its responsibilities.
Administrator Karachi said that the 25th February was the last date for submission of all required information and the consultants were directed to appoint the focal person in this connection who would complete whole work with immediate coordination of all concerned organizations. He said this being the fourth meeting and now there will be no more meeting. All concerned organizations must comply with the request so that work on the project could start soon.
