Karachi, March 21, 2014 (PPI-OT): Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui has said that a comprehensive strategy for speedy completion of uplift works in district South had been worked out and this would provide better municipal facilities to residents of this very important district of city.
He was chairing a meeting in his office along with the deputy commissioner Soouth Jamal Mustafa Qazi, Administrator DMC South Afzal Zaidi, Director General Technical Services Niaz Ahmed Soomro, Sr. Director Municipal Services Masood Alam and other officers.
Various development works which were presently underway in district South were reviewed in detail during the meeting and it was decided to finish these projects in least possible time.
Administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui observed that district South was considered the central business and commercial hub of Karachi and it has many of the head offices of provincial government and other important locations. Therefore, he said availability of better municipal services to people in this area would prove beneficial for the whole city.
Administrator Karachi on this occasion cited the example of construction of two underpasses and a flyover at Clifton and the construction of Shahabuddin Market Parking Plaza in Saddar which he said would after their completion help solving traffic related problems in this area and the people would get rid of traffic jam on important roads.
He said Clifton is the main recreation point in the city and lot of locals land tourist visit the seaside with their facilities and enjoy their time in Bagh Ibne Qasim and Clifton Beach Park and a majority of them also went to the holy shrine of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi.
He said that the project of two underpasses and a flyover in Clifton would be completed with a cost of Rs1.89billion which would prove a milestone in the uplift history of the city.
He said that it was important to pay special attention on the improvement of sanitation system in this district and to take action for removal of all kinds of encroachments. Lot of encroachments near Empress Market were recently been removed and this process will continue till the full removal of such encroachments in the central business district of city. Administrator Karachi said to officers to work jointly and ensure even better civic facilities for people by completing development works as soon as possible.
