Juma prayers not allowed in Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid

Srinagar, May 17, 2019 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the authorities disallowed people from offering Juma prayers at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, today. The authorities put restrictions in parts of downtown Srinagar and closed down the historic mosque to thwart any protest in the area against the killing of youth by Indian troops.

Witnesses said that contingents of Indian forces were deployed near the Jamia Masjid and people were not allowed to offer Friday prayers there. Meanwhile, complete shutdown was observed in occupied Kashmir on the call of the Joint Resistance Leadership to protest against the killing spree unleashed by Indian troops in the territory. The JRL had also asked the imams and khateebs to raise their voice against the bloodshed in the Friday sermons.
