JNU students take out victory march in campus

New Delhi, March 04, 2016 (PPI-OT):In New Delhi, the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) expressing solidarity with the President of Students Union, Kanhaiya Kumar, celebrated his return from jail by taking out a victory march at the campus. The students while carrying posters of B R Ambedkar and shouting slogans like ‘Jail ka tala toota hai, comrade Kanhaiya chhoota hai’, first gathered at Ganga Dhaba and then moved towards the admin block.

Despite his bail being interim, supporters described it as a triumph for truth and the cause for saving democracy and the university, a message their posters conveyed as well. One of the interesting messages carried on a poster read, “If you have been to jail for justice, then you are my friend.”

It is to mention here that Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested in connection with a function held at the JNU to mark the martyrdom anniversary of Kashmiri martyr, Muhammad Afzal Guru, on February 9. He was booked under sedition charges but the court released him on bail.
