Srinagar, February 15, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) distributed relief items including clothes and edibles among the flood-affected people of Samerbugh, Lachan, Batngoo, Bimna and Battamaloo of Srinagar areas. Besides party Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt, its human rights division Executive Director of Voice of Victims, Abdul Qadeer, Coordinator Rauf Ahmad Khan and women wing secretary Ruqiya Baji were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the flood affectees, Zafar Akbar Butt said that the last year floods not only devastated Kashmir but also claimed precious lives. He said that floods affected every section of society but poor people were the worst victims.
He said that party reached to every nook and corner of the valley and helped the flood affectees within its available resources. He praised the party leaders and workers who actively took part in the relief work and said that party helped flood affectees irrespective of cast, creed, colour and religion.
Slamming the authorities for its failure in rehabilitating the flood victims, Zafar Akbar Butt said that despite such devastation, the authorities were still in slumber and hadn’t yet initiated any kind of rehabilitation as the flood-affected people were living under open sky. He assured the flood victims that the JKSM would continue to provide relief to affectees.
