Srinagar, May 15, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu Kashmir National Front (JKNF) has condemned the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders and hundreds of youth and demanded their release.
The JKNF spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that New Delhi and the occupation authorities were violating the directives of Indian Supreme Court regarding the illegal detention of citizens.
“The continued illegal arrest of Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Mushtaq-ul-Islam and hundreds of youth was against the directives of the Indian Supreme Court (SC). In a recent directive, the Indian SC had said that taking any citizen in custody was to reject his personal freedom and rights, he added.
“The injustice at the institutional level was proved a few days back in Jammu as well when the residential houses of a selected group of people in Gole Gujral area were bulldozed and they were made to spend their days and nights under open sky,” said the spokesman, adding that the Indian government must shun the ways of oppression in the occupied territory.
