JKLF stages candlelight protest sit-in

Srinagar, April 03, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has staged a candle light sit-in protest at Maisuma to express solidarity with the illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyet leaders and activists. The protesters also condemned the continued house arrest of their Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik and demanded his immediate release along with other political prisoners.

The party’s Vice Chairman Advocate, Bashir Ahmed Butt addressing the protesters said that the protest was to express solidarity with all those languishing in different jails. He added that prisoners are the heroes of Kashmiri people.

He said people of Kashmir express full support to prisoners sentenced with lifers that include JKLF leader Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, Shaukat Ahmad Khan, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Javed Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Ayub Mir, Muhammad Ayub Dar, Ghulam Qadir Bhat, Muhammad Shafi Khan, Raj din Khan, Shabir Ahmad Malik, Muhammad Amin Dar, Noor Muhammad Tantry, Feroz Ahmad Bhat, Parvez Ahmed Mir, Sheikh Samiullah and Ali Mohammad Sheikh (brothers), Mohammad Iqbal Jan, Mushtaq Ahmed Kaloo, Mohammad Amin Wani, Mahmoud Topi Walla , Javed Ahmed Wani, Shabir Ahmad Najar , Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Mohammad Ishaq Paul, Fayaz Ahmad and Mohammad Saeed Bhat.

Hundreds of people including Kashmiri leader, Javed Ahmad Mir, Muslim Conference leader, Shabbir Ahmad Dar and human rights activist Muhammad Ahsan Untoo participated in the sit-in.
